189
Zidane transmits a very clear idea to the players. He doesn’t need to give a 20 minute motivational talk, he doesn’t need it. With his presence alone, he achieves what he wants – his personality is synonymous with success.
190
I never look forward, because I have no idea about how any of it happened to getting here. I’ve no idea how the next five years are going to be.

Politics is traditionally a male domain in Russia. Until now, women have only been accessories. Now, female protest groups are emerging – not because men came up with the idea, but through their own efforts. That’s something new for Russia.

That idea of peace and love toward humanity shouldn’t be nationalistic or denominational. It should be a chief concern for all mankind.

217
Everything, at first, is an idea, a special creation.
218
I always recommend, if you can, to patent or protect whatever your idea is. If you can’t, you have to make your best judgment. Sometimes people don’t get anywhere because they sit on something, so afraid to reveal it. And yet, in the reverse, sometimes if you expose something too widely, you can risk losing it.
219
Design is an iterative process. One idea often builds on another.
220
Maori get pigeonholed into the idea they’re spiritual and telling stories like ‘Whale Rider’ and ‘Once Were Warriors,’ quite serious stuff, but we’re pretty funny people, and we never really have had an opportunity to show that side of ourselves, the clumsy, nerdy side of ourselves, which is something I am.
221
‘Frankenstein’ was all about the idea that, through electricity and the destruction of night, man creating light and darkness, we took on god-like powers and then abused them like gods, and we are only men. That’s a story about man making a man in his own image. The inversion of natural order.
222
If you want to kill any idea in the world, get a committee working on it.

It’s a very smart and heartfelt movie and that’s why, I think, we’re all drawn to it. We really showed up for this with this collective idea that it was really ambitious, but we felt we all really had something to gain from it.
231
I really rebel against this idea that politics has to be a place full of ego and where you’re constantly focused on scoring hits against each one another. Yes, we need a robust democracy, but you can be strong, and you can be kind.
232
It is the original idea that is unique, not the object itself.
233
A new idea is delicate. It can be killed by a sneer or a yawn; it can be stabbed to death by a quip and worried to death by a frown on the right man’s brow.
234
A good idea is about ten percent and implementation and hard work, and luck is 90 percent.

I have a concept of Naples that is not so much of a city, per se, but rather an ingredient of the human spirit that I detect in everyone, Neapolitan or not. When an idea exclusively occupies the mind, it is transformed into an actual physical or mental state.
241
I love the idea of the teachings of Jesus Christ and the beautiful stories about it, which I loved in Sunday school and I collected all the little stickers and put them in my book. But the reality is that organised religion doesn’t seem to work. It turns people into hateful lemmings and it’s not really compassionate.
242
How can justice be attained when, in the expiation of an old wrong, another wrong is to be committed? No reasonable creature would conceive of the idea of obliterating ink stains with ink, or spots of oil with oil. Only blood must be washed out with blood.

My idea of a good picture is one that’s in focus and of a famous person.
244
A revolution is an idea which has found its bayonets.

249
In the middle of a recession, where we’re just climbing out of it, where the economy -unemployment is still at 9.7 percent, the idea of raising taxes and reducing spending is a prescription for disaster.

I have never written that there is a threat of fascism in America. I always considered the idea overwrought. But now I believe there really is such a threat – and it will come draped not in an American flag, but in the name of tolerance and health.
251
The original title for ‘In the Mood for Love’ was called ‘A Story About Food.’ The idea was to tell a love story through different courses.

253
I didn’t go to school, because I never stayed anywhere long enough, so I was completely closed off from the outside world. I had no idea about anything.
254
The idea flow from the human spirit is absolutely unlimited. All you have to do is tap into that well. I don’t like to use the word efficiency. It’s creativity. It’s a belief that every person counts.
255
The popular, and one may say naive, idea is that peace can be secured by disarmament and that disarmament must therefore precede the attainment of absolute security and lasting peace.

The idea is that there is a kind of memory in nature. Each kind of thing has a collective memory. So, take a squirrel living in New York now. That squirrel is being influenced by all past squirrels.
261
I’m obsessed with the form of a toolbox. The idea of a portable kit that has everything you might need ignites something inside me. It’s like Batman’s utility belt.

My motivation was an idea of being able to improve the conditions of life, to try to find a remedy to many of the problems facing the world. That’s what led me into economics. I saw it as a way of helping people.

We have to abandon the idea that schooling is something restricted to youth. How can it be, in a world where half the things a man knows at 20 are no longer true at 40 – and half the things he knows at 40 hadn’t been discovered when he was 20?
277
What is Oracle? A bunch of people. And all of our products were just ideas in the heads of those people – ideas that people typed into a computer, tested, and that turned out to be the best idea for a database or for a programming language.

353
One thing that people keep on saying to me is that the wealth and the fame must have made up for missing out on my childhood. But the idea of money – putting a price on your childhood – is ridiculous. You will never get those years back and you can’t put a price on them.
354
Paris is always a good idea.
355

Every year I go to Denver, usually between June and August. I hire a car and head up to the Rocky Mountain National Park, about a three-hour drive. It’s my idea of heaven on earth and just talking about it puts me in a good mood.

I come from a family of very devout, praying people. That idea of peace and love toward humanity shouldn’t be nationalistic or denominational. It should be a chief concern for all mankind.
552
Unity can only be manifested by the Binary. Unity itself and the idea of Unity are already two.
553
You can judge your age by the amount of pain you feel when you come in contact with a new idea.
554
We talk about the Internet. That comes from science. Weather forecasting. That comes from science. The main idea in all of biology is evolution. To not teach it to our young people is wrong.
555
Black men struggle with masculinity so much. The idea that we must always be strong really presses us all down – it keeps us from growing.
556
I love the idea of a university as away from capitalist values, where people can do things that don’t immediately have to pay their way. It’s like a monastery in a way, and that beautiful refuge has been destroyed by dogma about what this stuff is for.
557
The fundamentals, what I want, which is to take the ball, try to play as offensive as possible and dominate the game through the ball, is the same. I grew up with that; I was a player with that idea, and I am a coach with that idea.

560
As a girl growing up in Cyprus, Saudi Arabia and then India, the idea of cracking the industry in America seemed crazy. So thankfully, the way I was raised was to be an open person.
561
Ideas improve. The meaning of words participates in the improvement. Plagiarism is necessary. Progress implies it. It embraces an author’s phrase, makes use of his expressions, erases a false idea, and replaces it with the right idea.
562
Behind it all is surely an idea so simple, so beautiful, that when we grasp it – in a decade, a century, or a millennium – we will all say to each other, how could it have been otherwise? How could we have been so stupid?
563
It’s that wonderful old-fashioned idea that others come first and you come second. This was the whole ethic by which I was brought up. Others matter more than you do, so ‘don’t fuss, dear; get on with it.’
564
Fleabag knows men and women are equal and should be treated as such, but what she’s confused about – and what I was confused about – was the idea that wanting bigger boobs doesn’t mean you don’t want equal rights.
565
It’s a horrible idea that God, this paragon of wisdom and knowledge, power, couldn’t think of a better way to forgive us our sins than to come down to Earth in his alter ego as his son and have himself hideously tortured and executed so that he could forgive himself.
